A sculptural pair of glass candle holders designed by legendary Finnish designer Timo Sarpaneva for Iittala. Cast in thick, textured crystal-clear glass, each piece resembles a carved block of ice — light-catching, weighty, and quietly monumental.
The Arkipelago series was inspired by Finland’s rugged coastline and scattered islands, translating the raw geometry of nature into modernist form. These pieces were made using heavy moulded glass, a demanding process that gives them their distinctive internal texture and density. When lit, the glass glows softly from within, creating the feeling of candlelight trapped inside ice.
Designed to hold two candles each, they function as both light source and sculptural object — equally powerful on a dining table, console, or as a pair on a mantel.
