En Gold's Sable Capsule II: Sculptural Furniture Meets Comfort
An evolution of form and materiality
The Sable Collection has always been a celebration of sculptural design and natural materiality. Known for its distinctive wave-like forms carved from fossil stone, it became an expression of permanence and artistry. Now, with the Sable Capsule II, En Gold reimagines that language in a softer, more intimate context.
We sat down with founder and lead designer Steffanie Ball to explore the vision behind this new chapter and how the transition from stone to fabric reflects a deepening of En Gold’s ethos.
“This collection is about bringing the sculptural into the everyday.”
The original Sable Collection was defined by the raw, organic beauty of fossil stone. With the Sable Capsule II, that language finds new expression in pieces designed for rest and connection. The collection retains the sculptural essence of its predecessor, but introduces a softer materiality that invites touch and comfort.

The Choice of Material
What inspired the move from the grounded permanence of stone to the tactile intimacy of fabric?
"It was a natural progression. Fossil stone offered this timeless, architectural presence, but I wanted to explore how that could be translated into a more personal, sensory experience. Seating felt like the perfect medium to bridge this. The shift into soft furnishings is about creating spaces that feel as comforting as they are sculptural."

A dialogue between texture and form
The capsule celebrates a naturally-inspired aesthetic, rooted in the pursuit of understated luxury and lived-in warmth. "There's an inherent honesty to this natural look," Steff explains. "It embodies a relaxed elegance that develops character over time, reflecting the life around it. That felt aligned with our ethos of slow interiors and making pieces that grow with you." The wave detail which is so integral to the original collection, finds new life here, translated into gentle, continuous curves and subtle tuck detailing in the upholstery. The result is a series of forms that feel fluid and grounded, sculptural yet inviting, capturing the effortless sophistication of natural textures without compromise.

Designing for spaces that evolve
Comfort and function were at the forefront of the design process. Intended for dining rooms, living spaces, and even workspaces, the pieces balance everyday usability with a refined sculptural presence. They are designed to layer seamlessly with the original Sable Collection, creating a dialogue between hard and soft, permanence and tactility.
