Nicolle Sullivan (CEO of CULTIVER) :

What inspired you to focus on linen as the core textile for Cultiver, and how do you feel it transforms a home environment?

I grew up visiting family in Eastern Europe, where I was surrounded by beautiful, rich textiles that had often been passed down through generations. That early exposure gave me an appreciation for quality and longevity—values that became even more important as I began buying things for my own home.When CULTIVER began in 2012, many of us were discovering linen as a beautiful alternative to cotton bedding. It felt like the right fabric—timeless, tactile, and effortlessly elegant; an enduring material made to last. I find linen transforms a home by bringing warmth and softness to a space, making it feel more personal, inviting, and intentional

Cultiver linens are known for their effortless, lived-in elegance, how do you recommend styling them to elevate everyday spaces without overthinking it?

For me, the beauty of linen is that it doesn’t need much to feel considered. I’ve always been drawn to styling with simplicity—less really is more.In summer, a bedcover layered over a flat sheet feels fresh and effortless. As the weather cools, I transition to a linen duvet set, adding warmth and texture with throws and bedcovers. It’s all about layering pieces that feel natural and unforced, letting the textures and tones speak for themselves.

Linen has a reputation for both comfort and durability. What do you think makes it such a timeless choice for bedding and home textiles?

Linen strikes that rare balance between beauty and practicality. It’s naturally breathable, softens over time, and has an ease to it that suits how we live today. At the same time, it’s incredibly strong—designed to last and even improve with age. I think that combination of comfort, character, and longevity is what makes linen such an enduring choice. It brings a relaxed elegance to a space without ever feeling overdone.

As someone with a keen eye for interiors, how do you approach layering color and texture with linen in a bedroom or living space?

With linen, the texture already adds so much interest, so I like to be intentional with colour. It might be introducing depth with a bold bedcover or adding softness through tonal variations in cushions or throws. I’m drawn to combinations that feel effortless rather than overly coordinated—mixing weights, finishes, and shades from a natural palette to create spaces that are warm, relaxed, and lived in.

You’ve recently styled some of our pieces in your home, do you have a favourite En Gold design, and how did it complement your Cultiver aesthetic?

I love En Gold pieces for their natural materials and timeless designs with a nod to heritage techniques and shapes. The travertine plinth adds a bit of drama and interest, I use it for displaying art, flowers or candles. Another favourite is the pablo armchair - I'll have to get another as I keep moving it around, it looks great in every room!
